Meet the Breeder:

Hi, and welcome to Swing Away Rattery! I’m so glad you’re here.

I like to go by Sky as I have been for years (even in everyday life) as I like it more then my legal name, and I’m the human behind Swing Away Rattery.

What started as a love for rats......their intelligence, affection, and endlessly entertaining personalities slowly grew into a passion for raising them thoughtfully and responsibly.

Rats are often misunderstood, but anyone who has shared their life with one knows how special they are. They’re curious, social, emotionally intelligent little animals who thrive on connection.

Swing Away Rattery was created to honor that, to raise rats who are not only beautiful, but confident, healthy, and a joy to live with.

My Approach to Breeding

I’m a small, hands-on rattery, which means every rat here is raised with intention and care. I focus on:

• Temperament and health above all else

• Early handling and socialization so babies grow up comfortable with people

• Responsible breeding practices, with careful consideration of pairings

• Lifetime support for adopters—questions are always welcome

Rats at Swing Away are raised in a home environment, not as a side project, but as part of daily life. I spend time getting to know each one, watching personalities develop, and making sure every baby is set up for success in their future home.

Why “Swing Away”?

The name reflects both joy and trust—letting rats explore, climb, leap, and be their bold little selves, while knowing they’re safe and supported. That balance is at the heart of everything I do here.

This blog will be where I share rattery updates, introduce litters, talk about rat care and behavior, and give a peek into life behind the scenes at Swing Away.
